I was looking around but I dont see any extensions that would allow one to basically build a "directory" of whichever topic. In my case that topic would be businesses.
Essentially it would allow you to add businesses to the database to categories. Below is a screenshot of an example:
After they click on a sub-category it would simply show the list of businesses names, address, phone, and urls of businsses within that category.
Does anyone know of an existing typolight extension that could be modified to do something similar?

Hi,
I am trying to do something similar...
We're developing a community website for artists/ creative people. The website will have members only content and general/ public content.
We want Members to create a profile, but have the option to create a Company profile featuring business details - company, address, etc, folio (gallery of pics) and text description. This will then form a searchable directory of businesses.
Front end/ public area - We want the the public to be able to searcg the directory of businesses from the public interface.
Just wanted to know if anyone had done anything similar or could offer advice on best way to do it with TL
Any advice appreciated.
PS. Curios to know, did the catalog extension work for what you wanted Xioesen?

I have some testing of the catalog/catalog_ext/taxonomy combo and as Fabster says you should be able to build this kind of feature, as for the frontend form I think you'll need
formauto and maybe also
efg (I have not yet dug into this part, building frontend forms for users to edit content - I am getting there !).

I did finally accomplish this today. It wasnt 100% as I would have liked but it does function as desired.
I basically setup a new page for the main categories (associations-organization, automotive-trucks, computers & internet, constructions & trades). Each page then contained a filter to only show businesses within those categories. Each page also contained a filter which showed only the sub categories for each of the main categories.
I had to go this page route with a separate filter on each page because the user could select more than one filter (in this case) category at a time which rendered it useless.
I ended up with 25 different list modules and 25 different filter modules but the end result is a perfect directory so long as they do not want to create a main category. I believe the Thyon is working on a new module that should make this process easier in the future.
Checkout my post http://www.typolight.org/forum/message/55609.html and Thyon's response for more ideas on how to do something similar.
